THE FIRST PEOPLE
(The big flood)
In many cultures of the world there have been stories about a great flood that killed many people and then a new order had been established.
In the jungle there was once a great flood and many people died.
Two brothers scaled a very high mountain and since the water did not reach the top, they were saved.
Then, when the level of the water went down, the two brothers started to look for food, but the water had washed away much of the flora and fauna and the two brothers didnât find much to eat.
They had to eat some insects that had survived, some roots and a few animals that had escaped the great flood too.
The two brothers hoped that someone else had survived also, and they began to look for peopleâs footprints, they started to yell and covered the area but there was no sign of another survivor; they were totally alone.
Days passed and they had already made a shelter, a small house with a place to sleep and a place to eat.
Their main activity was looking for food; each day they would leave to search for animals or edible plants but there were was little to be found, due to the scrubbing suffered by nature, and the two brothers became weaker and weaker every day.
But one day when they returned from their daily search for the scarce food available, they found a veritable mountain of plates full of fruits and vegetables on their table.
Both were amazed by what had happened, but since they were so hungry the first thing they did was eat, and once their hunger was satisfied they began to wonder who could have brought such a feast.
Outside of the house there were no footprints, not a single mark that might indicate in what direction their benefactors had entered or left.
On the following days they started their normal activities, which consisted of looking for other survivors and searching for food, which ended in the same result: no people and little food.
One day they again found their table full of food: fowl, meat, specially prepared edible roots, different types of salads, and chicha.
Again they were dumbstruck, and after eating they looked all around trying to find any clue that would help them identify who had been helping them; they thought they were the only survivors, but apparently that was not the case.
The problem was that they couldnât find any footprint, any sign that might indicate who had come to their house; they wanted to thank their benefactor.
In order to discover who came to their home, they planned to hide outside the house behind some bushes, waiting for their benefactor to appear again.
They waited for two days without anything special happening, until they saw a pair of scarlet macaws that were nearing the house. These macaws carried some fruit in their feet and when they landed in front of the house they took the form of two beautiful girls carrying plates full of delicious food.
